The two largest food banks in Toronto released their latest “Who’s Hungry” Report for 2020 yesterday, the Daily Bread Food Bank and North York Harvest. Both are partner organizations with us through Feed Ontario. The report details much about what they’ve had to face throughout the covid pandemic. One of the things we noted from the report was – the kind of things people have to give up in order to meet basic costs of living. For example, being able to pay their phone bills and rent sometimes means going without or giving up food. Sometimes people will ask why that client seems to drive a nice car yet need food relief. When times were better, people were able to afford the phone plans they had or the cars they drive and when the budget gets tight they need to make adjustments and food is usually the first thing they go without. There are many reasons that can cause financial struggles in our lives. Please just remember that there are many people out there struggling from all sectors including the service industry. Please continue to support local, support our local restaurants if at all possible right now.

If you are in need or know of someone who could use our help PLEASE have them email us at info@burlingtonfoodbank.ca or call 905-637-2273 to make arrangements to have food dropped at their door or make arrangements to pick it up through our curb-side pickup option.
