We want to thank Adria and her team at the Urban Farm for the amazing work they’re doing and especially for partnering with the community. Just this past week they managed to collect 42 lbs of fresh produce. That’s very impressive – all for families in Burlington. Every Tuesday morning between 9am and 10am, the volunteers gather what they can harvest and supporting gardeners in the City stop by to add to their produce donations as well. As soon as we bring it back to the food bank, the produce gets organized and sent out immediately to families needing our support – truly farm to table!

The volunteers there are still hoping someone can donate folding tables, folding chairs and picnic tables for them to sit down together! If you can help out please email Adria Cehovin (grow4changes@gmail.com). They are now providing two Community Programs on Tuesday mornings starting at 10am. One is for residents aged 55+ and the other group is for children aged 4 to 7. Must be registered – email Adria Cehovin (grow4changes@gmail.com) to sign up and learn.

The Urban Farm is here in downtown Burlington (Brant St. and Ghent Avenue). There are vegetables now growing in huge straw bales about 7ft x 3ft each. They are now growing peppers, broccoli, kale, tomatoes and various other vegetables and herbs. The project is still progressing and all the start-up costs were managed by the Molinaro Group. The goal is to continue to produce fresh vegetables and herbs and donate them to food charities in Burlington. They also grew a pollinator garden to complete the cycle. They could always use more volunteers so if you would like to get involved with an amazing team, please contact Adria Cehovin (grow4changes@gmail.com). She posts updates along the way on their facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/I.will.grow.for.change/
