With the current heat warning here in Burlington, it’s a good time to check in on neighbours, family and friends to make sure they’re keeping cool. Obviously with the pandemic shut downs still in place and the covid protocols as well, its more difficult for some to find relief where they normally could. Make sure they are keeping hydrated. When a heat warning is issued, the City will open Central Arena’s Auditorium located at 519 Drury Lane as a Cooling Centre from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Community members can use the facility for 1-hour increments and will be screened for COVID-19 when they arrive. Measures will be in place to ensure physical distancing. Visitors must wear a non-medical face covering in the Cooling Centre. Please stay home if you are ill and always practice physical distancing (2m). You can learn more about the precautions you can take to stay cool when the temperatures and humidity are high and sign up to receive heat alerts from Halton Region at www.halton.ca.
