Somehow the sky opened up a bit and the rain held off during the Neal Family and Friends Bottle Drive on Saturday. Julie and James Neal and their incredible group of friends worked very hard to make the day as safe and convenient as possible for everyone that managed to stop by and drop off donations. Mayor Marianne Meed Ward stopped by as well to personally thank the Neals team for their efforts. This Bottle Drive supported The Compassion Society with food donations going to the Burlington Food Bank. We were impressed with how well this Drive was run and so honoured to be one of the recipients. Special thanks go to the Burlington Dads, to all the restaurants that offered up gift cards and to Jamie Kozub (FreshWagon.ca) for everything they contributed to make it a special event. Absolute fantastic job guys! The event raised 2,104 lbs of food plus almost $7,000 in bottle/cans so far.
