September is Hunger Action Month and we wanted to bring a little awareness to what that means for the Burlington Food Bank. We are again building upon the four pillars of Educate, Advocate, Volunteer and Donate. It has been a challenging year for everyone in food banking but we hope that every Provincial Association and food bank will join in on this campaign to help amplify our collective voice. SYLVAIN CHARLEBOIS, Professor, Director, Agri-Food Analytics Lab and Former Dean of the Faculty of Management at Dalhousie University reported in his research that the pandemic’s had an unheard of effect on food production and it all ends up costing us more at our local grocery stores. We need your continued support during these challenging times. There’s a sharp increase in food insecurity and in the numbers of people making use of food banks. Things that we’ve never talked about in the last few years are now affecting consumers. Thankfully we have such a generous community in Burlington that has helped keep our supplies running well.

If you are in need or know of someone who could use our help, PLEASE have them email us at info@burlingtonfoodbank.ca or call 905-637-2273 to make arrangements to have food dropped at their door or make arrangements to pick it up through our curb-side pickup option. If you are a resident in Burlington, we are all here to help. Don’t struggle – give us a call.
