Robin is with Trevor Poczynek today who is part of the ONRestaurants+ Burlington public Facebook group (with 16.9K members). This group (started in March 2020) is a place where Burlington Ontario restaurants share their menus, features, specials, photos and the community can make new discoveries and share their favourites! It’s a very positive, helpful place for people in the industry to share thoughts & ideas. Trevor invited all 350 Burlington restaurants to join in and even Mayor Marianne Meed Ward helped out as much as she could to get the word out. It’s not just restaurants that are struggling but the entire industry – many have lost jobs or have been laid off and we’re all trying to cope with the effects of the pandemic.
Many members on the group have offered help to the community including Don MacEachern with his Project Kindness – a restaurant support initiative where he raised enough money to purchase restaurant gift cards and that really helped out those in need in the community. So then Trevor talked to Sysco Toronto and together they began a Food Drive to support the Burlington Food Bank.
The drive ended up raising $7,983 and rumour has it Sysco intends to raise the amount as well. Thank you to everyone in ON Restaurants+
