We’ve had tremendous community support here in Burlington to kick off 2021. Shown here are Robin Bailey and Mayor Marianne Meed Ward thanking the Neal family and their community for all their efforts running the Big Bottle Drive along with the Burlington Dads. Just one final weekend to go! (from 9am-12pm at 1437 Reynolds Ave.) Thank you to everyone for contributing what you can. The idea for this bottle drive started with their son Emmett Neal who has been delivering the Post since September and through them, he had selected the Burlington Food Bank as his charity. Since the lockdown in January, he wanted to do something together with the Community and as a family that was curbside and covid-safe. Emmett told his mother Julie that they should go with the Food Bank because there are kids just like himself that need help more than ever. After posting the event on their facebook page and canvassing their own community, people shared the news and the drive took off. Even the Mayor helped make a contribution for the cause and for the chance to meet Emmett in person.
If you are in need or know of someone who could use our help PLEASE have them email us at info@burlingtonfoodbank.ca or call 905-637-2273 to make arrangements to have food dropped at their door or make arrangements to pick it up through our curb-side pickup option. If you live in Burlington, we are here to help. Don’t struggle – give us a call.
