Robin Bailey — Burlington Food Bank

The Burlington Food Bank has had to completely overhaul its operation at a time when demand increased.

The organization has always kept an eye to the future through its partnerships and is expecting a gradual return of the old in-store model in 2021 while continuing some form of the new delivery service. It also expects to see demand for food increase in the new year.

Bailey said the pandemic has had a notable effect on demand for the food bank’s services.

“It’s definitely increased. We’ve seen a substantial increase in the last two or three weeks especially, but in the last three months we started to see that increase happen and I think it’s going to continue. It’s a lot of people that I don’t think ever thought they would be using the food bank,” said Bailey.

The food bank has also noticed a slight change in clientele that is expected to continue. There are more working people seeking help from the organization.
