Getting Food During the COVID-19 Coronavirus Crisis

In order to limit contact and protect yourself, our volunteers and our staff we have gone to a delivery method to ensure we get food to you.  To receive food please email info@burlingtonfoodbank.ca or call 905-637-2273 When you contact us please leave your name, phone number and address.  We will then contact you to ensure we get you both non-perishable and fresh/frozen items such as milk, eggs, bread, fruit, vegetables and meat.

We Try to Make Getting Food Easy for You

Anyone in need of food and living in Burlington is eligible to use the food bank. When you visit us, a staff member or volunteer will ask to see some photo identification and documentation that shows you are a resident of Burlington.

What You can Expect as a Food Bank Client

Burlington Food Bank is run by dedicated staff and volunteers who collect food, stock shelves and support clients by distributing food. Our clients are welcomed with respect. If this is your first visit, you will need to complete a simple registration between the hours of 9:00 – 11:45 am, Monday to Friday or Thursday evenings between 5-7 pm. Please bring something with your name & address on it, as well as identification for everyone in your family. After your initial registration, you may visit us once every three (3) weeks during our regular business hours as posted.

You will receive nutritious food on each visit. This will include both canned/packaged food and fresh food like milk, fresh produce, meat and bread.

Yes, we practice what is commonly called the shopping model; you will pick the items that you and/or family will eat. We try to offer choices and a variety of food based on Canada’s Food Guide. You will be able to shop for non perishable items with the assistance of our volunteers, as well as fresh produce. We also provide milk, eggs, bread and frozen proteins such as chicken, beef, pork and fish.

All clients are treated with dignity and respect. We do all of our initial intakes or first time registrations in private and respect privacy and keep information confidential. Clients are expected to treat our staff and volunteers with the same courtesy and understanding as we treat them.
