The Burlington Food Bank is run by a group of volunteer Board of Directors who give their time and energy to the day to day operation. When covid hit us all, they made a decision to identify certain metrics that could be tracked on a daily basis to see if we were successful at what we are doing and also to see if we would be able to cope with any changes. For instance, we wanted to make sure we had PPE and enough to keep up with our needs. We wanted to know if we had enough stock in food supplies and if we had the volunteers to help us get through this. Most importantly, they wanted to make sure our staff and volunteers were cared for and that everything possible was being done to protect our clients with safe food supply. Robin is currently studying with Feed Ontario regarding burnout and compassion fatigue as this is currently part of what’s going on all around us. We’re very proud of our board members and our staff and the amazing volunteers we’re so lucky to have – just have to keep working hard together.
