Spring is around the corner and as many of you know we have 7 plots at the Community Garden on Maple Ave just south of the Mapleview Centre. We are looking for a volunteer to be our Community Garden Coordinator. If you or someone you know would be interested in overseeing this program please email us. The person will not be expected to do everything involved but rather coordinate and oversee that the garden is tended to and that the guidelines are being followed as well as regular communication with the City of Burlington and our Community Garden volunteers. We have been very fortunate to have amazing Garden Coordinators and together we’ve learned what our clients need and want for fresh produce, and have been able to grow what’s important to them.

Looking back at our numbers for February, this is actually the last month that we are able to compare 2021 vs 2020 (pre-covid) numbers, since the pandemic hit us all starting March 2020. In comparison to last year’s February we served over 1,000 people, this year February saw us deliver to over 1,400 clients – a 40% increase in support. Families needed the assistance for many reasons and we were able to help because of incredible community support here in Burlington. We understand that needing help isn’t something you choose to do, its often just due to changes in circumstance. Sometimes you have to reach out for a little assistance and that’s why we’re here. Contact us via email or phone if you don’t have access to email and we’ll call you back, take your request and provide the pantry items, milk, eggs, bread, meat and fresh produce you need.
